Zardari’s stance over judges' issue reflects his political foresight:

RAWALPINDI—Governor Punjab Lt. Gen (retd) Khalid Maqbool has said that
the changing in the stance of Chairperson Pakistan Peoples Party Asif
Ali Zardari over judiciary issue reflects his (Zardari) political
foresight.
Addressing to the participants of 9th Convocation of University of Arid
Agriculture Rawalpindi (UAAR) and talking to media men, the Punjab
Governor said that change in the stance of Zardari is not surprising, as
he wants to run all the matters wisely.
Lt. Gen (retd) Khalid Maqbool further said that the position taken by
Asif Ali Zardari has proven that our jails are playing positive role as
the political sense of Asif Ali Zardari has increased since serving in
Jail He emphasized that only the parliament is the best and effective
forum to solve all the important controversial national issues and such
decisions cannot be decided on the roads.
Responding to a question, the Punjab Governor said that the Local Bodies
System was introduced purely in the interest of people of the country
and the society would itself protect the system. The new government
would take better decision in this regard, he expressed his optimism.
Commenting on the education system of the country, he said that although
the country is on the right path in the education sector but we should
not be satisfied with our current education system as only four percent
students reach upto the level of university.
Extending his congratulations to successful students including 14 PHD
Graduates, the Governor said that the interest of the young generation
towards education is a positive sign. Programmes like Agriculture
Engineering Biotechnology, Anthropology and Sociology are the need of
the current time, he added.
He said that Rs. 1400 million would be spend on the setup of different
departments in UAAR and improve the infrastructure, adding that research
centers with the total cost of Rs. 800 million would be setup at Mandra
Road. Grant of Rs. 1200 million would be given to universities in this
year, he added. |
