More population welfare centers to be set up: Minister

ISLAMABAD—Ministry of Population Welfare will expand network of its
reproductive health services to far-flung areas in order to provide
essential basic health information to maximum people.
Minister for Population Welfare Mir Hamayun Kurd told APP on Tuesday
that the number of these reproductive health services was being
increased as part of the ministry's efforts to ensure quality life to
masses.
He said the ministry had already established international standard
centers in Federal Government Services Hospital Islamabad, District
Headquarter Hospital Jehlum and one Family Welfare Center each in Noor
Pur Shahain, Dina , Talaganh and Jehlum.
He said these centers were providing international standard facilities
to masses and that was the reason, he added, these succeeded to achieve
ISO certification.
Moreover, he said that ministry had only 2800 population welfare and 300
mobile units with 4200 male motivator who were educating masses on
population welfare issues.
He underlined the need for making concerted efforts to meet challenges
in wake of the growing population to achieve socio-economic development
of the country.
He said that ministry was taking concrete steps to acquire more funds
for its programmes in the coming budget in order to effectively complete
the projects and succeed in achieving the 1.3 per cent of population
growing rate by 2020.
He said that all the programmes were being designed in accordance with
the local environment to achieve swift and concrete results of these
projects.
Replying to a question, he said that leaders of the PPP and PML(N) were
sincerer in their efforts for the reinstatement of deposed judges.
He said that government would take pragmatic steps to launch welfare
projects for the welfare of people of Balochistan.
He also asked media, which played a pivotal role in making opinion of
masses on issues, to contribute its services towards educating masses on
population welfare-related issues to expedite the country's
socio-economic development. |
