Low income group employees should be preferred: Kakar

ISLAMABAD—Minister for Housing and Works Rehmatullah Kakar on Tuesday said that Federal Government employees of low income should be given preference in the allotment of plots and developed houses.
Chairing the meeting of the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) at the Ministry here, the Minister directed concerned authorities to remove flaws and bottlenecks in the development of Regi Lalma Model Town Housing scheme in Peshawar and asked for its early development.
Rehmatullah Kakar also directed that audit factor in launching and development of housing scheme should be kept in view, says a press release.
Earlier, Director General FGEHF, Shahid Hameed briefed the Minister on objectives of the Housing Foundation, eligibility criteria being pursued by the Foundation regarding allotment of plots and houses on age wise seniority to the Federal Government employees.
The Director General briefed the Minister about the various housing schemes launched by the housing Foundation in Islamabad, Karachi and Peshawar for the Federal Government employees.
He further briefed the Minister about new housing scheme in sector F-12 in Islamabad, which has already been allocated by the Prime Minister in 2005 for Government employees.
He said that efforts are underway for acquisition of land and development of the sector.
He also informed the Minister about problems being faced by the Foundation and shortage of funds for launching of housing schemes.
Secretary, Housing and Works, Abdul Rauf Chaudhry, senior officials of the Ministry and FGEHF also attended the briefing.
The Minister also presided over meeting of the Advisory Board of PHA.
