LAHORE—Power supply of Flood Lights in different stadiums during the
August-September ICC Championships Trophy matches in Pakistan will be
managed through Generators instead of Wapda electricity to avoid power
failure in the mega event.
“We don’t want a repeat of a sorry situation as during a one day
international at Lahore during one day international against Bangladesh
recently”, said a spokesman of ICC Champions Trophy event management
here on Monday. The decision to use Generators during the Champions
Trophy was finalized here recently during meeting with Chris Tetley, ICC
Event Manager Ahmed Farooq Malik, Director Event Management,ICC
champions trophy.
A mobile generator would also be in place to serve as a backup facility
in case of some generator developing a technical problem while a
proposal regarding issuance of Machine Readable Tickets (MRT) was also
under active consideration to avoid the chance of use of fake tickets.
The spokesman said that report regarding fake tickets being caught in
4th ODI at Multan between Bangladesh and Pakistan Teams led to the idea
of issuance of (MRT) to avoid the possibility of use of counterfeit
tickets.
“ We will ensure best possible steps to facilitate the spectators during
the Champions Trophy at various centres to ensure that they do not stand
in long queues while entering into stadium “,he said adding “ We will
introduce proper gate management and entry systems”. “In order to ensure
foolproof security arrangements we will are in the process of hiring the
services of top experts in this field “, he said adding “ Our security
department will be headed by an ex-armymen who is a specialist in
security “. |
