Federal College of Education effective in teachers’ training

ISLAMABAD—Federal College of Education (FCE) is pursuing effective strategy to prepare teachers through capacity building workshops for their profession.
The college, established in 1974, is meant to enhance the teachers’ potentialities who are in-service and pre-service and enable them use modern instructional techniques. Currently, the FCE has about 700 students enrolled in several teacher training programmes such as B.Ed, B.S.Ed, Diploma in Education (D.I.E) and 4 disciplines in Master. The College of Education also offers stipends to the students of B.S.Ed on merit.
Moreover, the Institutions facilitates the Directorates of education regarding in-service training programmes to equip teachers with the present day’s skills.
It also identifies the educational problems on the basis ofresearch and suggested possible solutions and enhance professional qualification and proficiency of the teachers.
The FCE is the only Teacher Training Federal institution which is taking teachers from all over Pakistan including FATA, FANA and AJK. It also caters for training teachers from variousinstitutions like Directorate of Education (Cantt. and garrison) for in-service teacher training.
Present, Federal College of Education, Islamabad is working as a partner institution with Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) for improving quality education in the country.
Many developmental projects including training of Head Teacher and teachers of ICT, capacity building of FCE and strengthening its infrastructure are in progress in FCE. The CIDA is actively funding scholarship to the prospective teacher of B.Ed and DIE in FCE. In this regard, scholarships distribution ceremony was organized last week in the College campus in which Shahid Ahmad, Additional Secretary Education participated in the event. Many prominent scholars attended the ceremony.
