LG system in Punjab to be revised

ISLAMABAD—The Local Government system in Punjab would be revised, improved and made more effective in order to enable it to resolve people’s problems promptly at their doorstep, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said Monday. Talking to PTV, he said LG act would be tabled in provincial assembly and MPAs in an open debate would suggest amendments in the LG system and help rectify the flaws of the system. The improved act would be promulgated in the province.He said district Nazims (DN) ahve miserably failed to maintain law and order situation in their respective districts. He said revenue collection formula has also miserably failed as LG system is unable to generate its funds. DN also failed to control ever increasing prices, he added.—Online
