The Beautiful Life

DEAR READERS, I Hope you all enjoyed my last article which was about skincare, allergies and love! Well, skincare mostly! This time I wanted to write about something different.... A problem that has affected most of us at some point in our life and continues to upset us and make us feel helpless; hair loss. The dictates of fashion have played a major role in this area. There are so many women who would not be caught dead without their hair blow dried, so much so that even at funerals they look picture perfect and I would be the only one looking like Cinderella’s step sister! My Dupatta has been a great saving grace, I can tell you!
While there is nothing wrong with wanting to look fabulous all the time, we do have to keep in mind that with our body and our health, we should have a give and take relationship i.e. we must look after ourselves. It is really important to oil your hair regularly. This will strengthen your hair and relax your scalp. Also make sure you use a good product on your hair which will minimize heat damage from blow drying and ironing.
For those women who have had rebounding done, please take extra care. Even the best of rebounding leads to hair loss, dryness and/or split ends. The first time round there may not be too much damage but when you repeat it without giving a break, then the hair really suffers. So try not to rebound your hair year after year. Do a lot of hair treatments like protein treatments and oiling treatments with gentle scalp massage.
Another great tip for hair loss is vitamin B. This is the only vitamin that the body produces and it is necessary for hair and skin. B6 and B12 especially play a vital role. I did quite a bit of research on hair loss when my own healthy mane started falling like rain from the sky. My tears also fell the same way! Before that time I had never realized how precious hair was and how depressing it is to lose one’s symbol of beauty.
Well, I decided to do something about it and after stumbling around for years, I realized a few things. 1) Extended periods of use of anti-biotics kill vitamin B in our body, so supplements must be taken. 2) Stress really harms the body including skin and hair, so take up some positive action, take out your anger and frustration in the gym or some form of exercise. Believe me you’ll feel like you found nirvana on earth! 3) Get regular medical check ups, no harm there! 4) Smile! No problem seems too great with a smile on your face, but with a frown everything seems to be a problem! I hope this article helped some of you, if not all (though my fingers are crossed). Please do email me if you have any queries. It will be a pleasure to help you. Till next week inshallah!
Goodbye.
