Pak delegation to attend WIEF
LAHORE—Another two high profile Pak delegations from corporate sector
will attend a 3-day 4th World Islamic Economic
Forum (WIEF) being held in Kuwait from April 29, with Emir Kuwait,Sheikh
Sabah Al Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in chair.
Internationally renowned economists from different sectors including
Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Prime
Minister of India,Dr.Manmohan Singh will deliver thought provoking
speeches to the Muslim traders and businessmen on the issue of “ Islamic
Countries:Partners in the Global Development”. The most important issue
yet in the Muslim world at this moment is the existence of a wide
poverty gap between nations.A sizeable proportion of Muslim societies
live in abject poverty, despite the presence of immense wealth in other
parts of the Muslim world.
Co-Chairman, Businessmen Panel, the largest alliance of chambers in
Pakistan which has organised this visit to Kuwait, Iftikhar Ali Malik
told APP here Sunday that during the different sessions and workshops,
various modalities would be thrashed out how poverty can be tackled.—APP
