Retaining of 17th amendment is an offense like casting vote in its
support, says Fazl
HYDERABAD—Head of Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan, Maulana Fazl ur
Rehman has said that retaining of 17th Amendment is an offense like
casting vote in its support.
He expressed these views while speaking in a program “Meet the Press”
Organized by Hyderabad press club here on Sunday.
Maulana Fazl said that his friends always criticized him about 17th
Amendment but President Musharraf has broken his agreement over 17th
amendment. It was decided in the all parties conference that whenever we
get a chance we all will stand united for abolition of 17th Amendment.
Now, the parliament enjoys two third majority and we say that 17th
Amendment is an offense like casting vote in its support, he added.
Maulana Fazl ur Rehman has said that country facing both internal and
external crisis while its ruler too affecting its position at
international level.
We have several challenges including how to protect the integrity and
solidarity of Pakistan. Purposeless use of forces is creating more
problems for the country, he said. He further said that solution of the
all issues lies in dialogue and use of forces is not the solution
towards issues. We are proud of having national thinking.
The newly form government of ANP in NWFP is also eager to find solution
all crisis through dialogue and Jirga meeting even rulers themselves has
brought change in their attitude and told each delegation from US and
other countries that they can’t use force and solution of all problems
would be find through dialogue, Fazl ur Rehman said.
While talking about judiciary he said that dialogues among the political
parties over the issues of reinstatement of judges in progress. While
talking about his meeting with Governor Sindh he said that it was not
preplanned. He further said that only parliament is institution, which
has the authority for legislation.
Chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain and Jamiat
Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F), leader Maulana Fazal-ur Rehman Saturday discussed
the political situation of the country during a telephonic conversion.
MQM and JUI leaders had detailed deliberations on the overall political
situation and the national integrity, said a statement issued by MQM
here.
