Reinstatement of deposed judges sans Iftikhar unacceptable, says Munawar
ISLAMABAD—Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Syed Munawar Hussain
has said that the nation would not accept reinstatement of deposed
judges sans deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad
Chaudhry, adding that, the rulers are trying to deceive the nation.
The legal fraternity, civil society and citizens of the country would be
at roads if the deposed judges were not reinstated, he said this in a
statement issued here on Sunday.
“People are bound to commit suicide due to starvation, rising inflation
and unemployment. Inflation is increasing day by day and the rulers have
failed to take notice of rising prices of commodities.
He asked the government to take concrete steps instead of raising hollow
slogans. He alleged that the rulers are not only ready to work with
President Pervez Musharraf but also ready to continue policies of
Ex-Government.
He demanded the government to held Former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz
and his advisor to Finance Dr. Suleman Shah accountable for looting
billion of rupees of Pakistani people through different scams.
Responding to a question, he said that a broader constitutional package
might have been the stumbling block while the second reason could be the
reluctance of the incumbent judges to quit who took oath under
Provincial Constitutional Ordinance (PCO)
