SC moved to block judges resolution

ISLAMABAD—A writ petition has been filed in Islamabad High Court (IHC) to stop the expected step of restoring the judges through a resolution in the National Assembly. The constitutional petition has been filed by Maulvi Iqbal Haider in IHC under article 199 of the constitution.
Maulvi Iqbal Haider while making the Speaker and Deputy Speaker National Assembly and Secretary Law respondent opined that the judges’ issues cannot be discussed in the parliament, therefore, the High Court should stay tabling of such a resolution.
Maulvi Iqbal Haider in his petition took the position that if any resolution is to be tabled in the parliament for the restoration of the deposed judges then the Speaker NA should be declared disqualified. The petition of Maulvi Iqbal Haider has been admitted by Chief Justice of IHC Justice Sardar Aslam for hearing which would be held today (Friday).—Agencies
