Govt to allocate resource for uplift of education: Ahsan

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Education Ahsan Iqbal has said that the
government will allocate its best resources for the uplift of the
education sector in Pakistan.
He expressed these views while talking to the Japanese Ambassador who
called on him here on Thursday. Quality accreditation system for Public
Sector Schools will be launched to ensure the best quality imparting of
knowledge. The quality of Public Sector Schools would be brought at par
with the private schools, he added. Ahsan Iqbal apprised the Japanese
Ambassador that Donors Conference for Education Sector in Pakistan will
soon be called. There is a considerable coordination gap between the
Donors’ Agencies and the government of Pakistan and this gaps needs to
be filled, he held.
The minister also spoke regarding the coming education policy and said
that emphasis will be laid on implementation of the policy. The previous
Government’s Education Policy failed to achieve the desired results as
it lacked the implementation strategy. The minister added that all
stakeholders would be taken into complete confidence before the
implementation of the Education Policy. The new education policy will be
widely debated in the National Assembly and it shall also be sent to the
political leaders for endorsement before its finalization.
The Japanese Ambassador told the Education Minster that Japanese
government is presently running 45 schools in FATA areas and this
network will be expanded in the days to come. Meanwhile, The US
Development Agency US AID Education Programme has signed an agreement
with the Government of Pakistan according to which the US AID Programme
will give a financial assistance of 90 million dollars for Pakistan’s
educational sector. The MoU was signed in F.G.Girls School G-7/1. The
Administrator of US AID Programme and Federal Education Minister Ahsan
Iqbal signed the MoU on behalf of their respective governments.
The Education Minister Ahsan Iqbal while speaking on the occasion said
that the US assistance would go along way in improving the educational
sector in Pakistan. He maintained his commitment to provide Science and
Computer Laboratory to 100% high schools in Pakistan. It is regretted
that our 70 % High Schools do not have Science/Computer Laboratories,
the Minister added. Ahsan Iqbal said that it’s a privilege occasion to
sign a MoU with US AID. Ahsan Iqbal said that Present day strength of US
owes to its sound educational system. We too in Pakistan are striving
for acquisition of such a strong education system that can guarantee the
safe future of our generations to come.
The administrator of US AID Programme while speaking on the occasion
said that US AID would further work in close collaboration with the
Pakistan’s government. The Administrator of US AID Programme said that
“It is highly appreciatable to know that Education Minister in Pakistan
wishes to achieve 100 % Universal Primary Enrolment in Pakistan”. |
