Man gets death sentence on two counts

FAISALABAD—Death sentence on two counts was awarded to an accused involved in a rape and murder case of Thikriwala police station here Thursday. According to prosecution, Piran Ditta r/ o 76-JB had raped his real daughter Fazeelat Bibi. Later he killed her newborn baby on April 14, 2002. Deciding the case, Additional Sessions Judge Khizar Hayat Sial awarded death sentence to Piran Ditta under section 302-B of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). The convict was also directed to pay Rs.50000 as compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased. He will have to undergo an additional imprisonment of 6 months if failed to pay the amount of compensation. The court also awarded capital punishment to Piran Ditta under section 376 of PPC in addition to a fine of Rs.10000.
