FBR to introduce relief-oriented policies
ISLAMABAD—Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Abdullah Yusuf has
said that the autonomous Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) was making
utmost efforts to give maximum relief to common man while formulating
tax collection policies. Talking to a private television (ARY One
World), he said basic amenities of life including agricultural products
and medicines have been exempted from tax to facilitate common citizen.
He said FBR has introduced self-assessment scheme to expand tax-payers
base and restore confidence of the masses in the organization that
returns filed by them are considered correct.
The Chairman said FBR was computerizing its entire system of tax
collection to minimize interaction between tax-payers and tax-collectors
to ensure transparency in the process.
During the last year, he said corporate sector had filed their returns
through ‘Electronic Filing System’ without visiting offices of FBR.
Abdullah Yusuf vowed to improve efficiency of FBR and make it an
effective body to generate sufficient revenues, enabling the government
to launch more and more welfare-oriented policies to improve living
standard of the common man.—Online
