SCBA says slight delay in restoration of judges be overlooked
By Saad Saud

ISLAMABAD—Secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Ch. Muhammad Amin Javaid said Wednesday that delay of a few days in restoration of deposed judges should not be made a matter of prestige by any one.
The Secretary SCBA, addressing a press conference in the press room of the Supreme Court Press Association, said the lawyer community wants restoration of the judges according to the Bhurban declaration.
“We will not compromise on this,” he said.
Talking about the formation of the Committee for the restoration of deposed judges as decided by the leadership of PPP and PML (N) during the meeting on Tuesday, Ch. Amin said that the government should also include Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council, Haji Syed Rehman and President of SCBA, Ch. Aitzaz Ahsan in the committee.
To a question, he said there was no bar on Cc. Aitzaz Ahsan and “any one can take part in bye-elections.”
When asked about legislation regarding age limit of Chief Justices of the Superior Courts, he said, “Yes, the Parliament has powers to pass legislation in this regard and there is no bar on the Parliament.”
“We want strong democracy and independent judiciary in the country and lawyers are making efforts for this purpose,” the Secretary SCBA said.
