Pakistan to boost tis economic cooperation with Iran: Rehmat

Islamabad—Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Mashaullah Shakiri called on Federal Minister for Housing & Works, Rehmatullah Kakar in his office here today and discussed Pak-Iran Economic Cooperation, cooperation between the two countries in housing and construction sectors, Asia Pacific Conference to be held in Tehran on May 12 and other matters of bilateral interest.
Talking to the Federal Minister for Housing and Works, Rehmatullah Kakar, Mashaullah Shakiri conveyed his best wishes from the government of Iran and its people to the Government and people of Pakistan on the formation of a new democratic government in Pakistan and informed the minister that Iran is already extending its cooperation in the development of Pakistan’s infrastructure. The Iranian Envoy said that Iran wishes to play its role in the strengthening and promotion of economy in Pakistan.
The Iranian Ambassador told the Minister that his country intends to extend its cooperation with Pakistan in Housing and construction sectors. The Iranian Envoy expressed his satisfaction over the growing economy in Pakistan and appreciated the contribution of overseas Pakistanis in the development of national economy. The Envoy invited Rehmatullah Kakar to attend Asia Pacific Conference on “Housing and Urban Development” to be held in Tehran from May 12-14, 2008.
Rehmatullah Kakar while talking to the Iranian Envoy said that Iran is second home to Pakistanis. The Minister said that Pakistan and Iran enjoy deep and cordial relations in all the spheres of life. The Minister informed that her country wants to further cement its economic ties with Iran.
The Minister also discussed housing scheme announced by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and interest shown by various construction companies in this regard. He expressed the desire that he will meet his Iranian counterpart and heads of various construction companies during the conference in Tehran.
