DC orders to prepare expansion plan of Bakshi Khana

ISLAMABAD—Deputy Commissioner Islamabad has directed relevant authorities to prepare a plan to expand bakshi Khana (place for prisoners in Islamabad) within 24 hours. During visit to federal capital’s bakshi Khana alongwith Senior Civil Judge Islamabad Abid Rizwan the other day, he expressed his displeasure over the conditions in which prisoners were kept. The DC immediately summoned the executive engineer of the Local Government Department and directed him to prepare a plan to expand the building within 24 hours. It was also decided that the case would be taken up with the Capital Development Authority for permission to utilise the available open space in the district courts on a temporary basis till the courts are shifted. The Local Government will construct the necessary structure urgently with a view to providing security, space and better conditions to prisoners.—Online
