Top academic gunned down

QUETTA—Unidentified motorbike riders gunned down Acting Pro Vice Chancellor Balochistan University Professor Safdar Kayani at Sariab Road Tuesday, police said.
According to reports, the gunmen fired at Professor Kayani when he came out of his home near Green Town, Sariab Road.
He sustained multiple bullets in his body and died on the spot. The assailants fled from the scene. Area police cordoned off the area and launched operation to apprehend the culprits. The banned organization Balochistan Liberation Army has accepted responsibility of killing Prof. Safdar Kayani.—Agencies
