37 wheat buying centres set up

ISLAMABAD—Punjab food department has established as many as 37 wheat buying centres in Faisalabad and set targets of buying 4 lakh tonnes of wheat from the areas of Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh.
Deputy Director Foods Rana Saeed Ahmed Monday told private TV channel ‘Express News’ that arrangements have already been finalised for initiating wheat buying from the aforementioned areas within a day or two.
In Punjab the food department has fixed to buy 30 lakh tonnes of wheat from across the province for maintaining strategic reserves to cope with any future eventuality and ensure constant wheat supplies to flour mills. He said the recent rains had badly affected the standing wheat crops and disturb the harvesting schedule.
