Army fully prepared to meet all internal, external challenges: COAS

RAWALPINDI—Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has said that the Army is and will remain fully prepared to meet the current and emerging external and internal threats, with the full support of the nation.
He expressed these views while chairing the 61th Formation Commanders Conference at General Headquarters on Monday. The conference is being attended by Corps Commanders, Principal Staff Officers and Formation Commanders.’
After recitation from the Holy Quran, the Chief of Army Staff dwelt at length on the full spectrum of issues relating to the Army’s operational and training matters. He clearly stated that Army is and will remain fully prepared to meet the current and emerging external and internal threats, with the full support of the nation.
The Chief of Army Staff also reviewed the progress with regards to de-induction of serving officers seconded to civil departments.
Thereafter, the participants were given comprehensive briefings on security environment, training matters and administrative measures. The briefings were followed by an open and purposeful discussion. The Chief of Army Staff also awarded the Army’s sports Trophy to Karachi Corps.
Day two of the conference (22 April) shall focus on remaining matters of professional importance. The next 3 days i.e. 23rd and 25th April shall be utilized for Selection Board 2008 for promotion of Lieutenant Colonels to Colonels / Brigadiers.
