PPP, MQM
agree to continue dialogue, reconciliation process

KARACHI—Bringing to end the long persisting deadlock, PPP and MQM have
agreed on continuation of talks process between them in future besides
taking forward the reconciliation process.
This was announced during a meeting between negotiating teams of PPP and
MQM here in Bilawal house Sunday. MQM delegation led by Farooq Sattar
and comprising Babar Ghauri, MQM parliamentary leader in Sindh assembly
Syed Sardar Ahmad and Adil Siddique participated in the meeting while
PPP was represented by Pir Mazhar ul Haq, Dr Zulfiqar Mirza and advisor
to chief minister Rashid Rabbani. Giving briefing to the media after the
meeting, Dr Farooq Sattar told arrival of MQM delegation in Bilawal
house was aimed at condemning the firing on Bilawal house besides
expressing solidarity with PPP leadership.
MQM assures PPP that any attack on Bilawal house would be considered an
attack on 90. We have considered the attack on Bilawal House as an
attack on 90”, he added. Peace of Pakistan, Karachi and Sindh is dear to
use and we will restore it at every cost, he announced. “We will take it
to future generations the journey to reconciliation we have initiated as
it will benefit the people of Sindh”, he vowed. He charged attacks on
Bilawal house and MQM workers in Landhi were made under a planning to
disrupt the peace of city. This is a conspiracy and we will thwart it,
he remarked.
He alleged anti MQM elements were engaged in launching propaganda
campaign against it on the basis of Tahir Plaza incident. Those who are
behind this propaganda should present the list of lawyers who were burnt
alive in Tahir Plaza incident and if they failed to do so then legal
action be initiated against them for maligning MQM, he demanded.
Speaking on the occasion, PPP parliamentary leader in Sindh assembly Pir
Mazhar ul Haq said investigations into April, 9 incident were underway.
Incident of burning alive of men is condemnable. Be they are common men
or lawyers, they are human beings, he added. The culprits will soon be
arrested and stern action be taken against them. Whosoever are behind
this incident will be exposed, he announced.
Interior Minister Sindh Dr Zulfiqar Mirza told no reservations were
expressed over the appointment of IG Sindh during the meeting. IG Sindh
had gone to Islamabad to attend SAARC conference and he is not being
removed, he added.
Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) deputy convener Dr Farooq Sattar has
alleged Muhajir Qaumi Movement is involved in the killings of MQM
workers in Landhi incident saying attempts are being made to impose
criminal terrorists on the city.
He said this while addressing a press conference here Sunday at MQM
headquarters 90. He said killings of MQM workers and firing on Bilawal
House are the incidents of terrorism. Terrorists of Muhajir Qaumi
Movement who are behind the killings of MQM workers be arrested and
brought to justice. |
