Govt of harassing workers
ISLAMABAD—PML-Q and MQM Parliamentarians staged a token walk out from
National Assembly against harassment of political workers and involving
them in false and fabricated cases. while speaking on the calling
attention notice, MQM Parliamentarian, Ghulam Haider Samcho said that
ruling government was harassing their political workers and filing false
and fabricated cases against them.
Later on the request of Federal Minister Naveed Qamar, Opposition
parliamentarians ended their token walk out and joined the house. MNA
Farzana Raja retorted about harassment of PPPP workers and office
bearers since last five years. “But we observed a lot of patience and
tolerance”, she maintained.
MNA Mehreen Anwar Raja said that opposition has forgotten their days of
nine-year reign when they used to harass the PPPP workers and even tried
to compel them to quit their party. Advisor to Prime Minister on
Interior, Rehman Malik has said that nobody would be allowed to adopt
the routine and culture of violence in country. While sympathizing with
parents of four-year-old rape victim in Gujranwala he said that
responsible persons would be given exemplary punishment. He assured
Opposition brotherly relations and said that PPPP believes in promotion
of aura of reconciliation in the country. The PM, Yousaf Raza Gillani
has thanked the cooperation he was receiving from opposition, including
the fact that opposition fully reposed its confidence in him during vote
of confidence.
Addressing the session of NA, he expressed his deep resolve to repose
his trust and confidence in opposition citing the alliance of PPPP and
PML-N as a living example of such endless possibilities. Referring to
opposition’s query regarding control of crimes, he said that masses had
many hopes pinned to this situation, and these issues have to be
redressed.
He specifically issued on hand directives to interior advisor to stem
the tide of crime wave and also requested opposition to observe patient
since these matters took time to settle down.
The federal minister for trade Shahid Khakan Abbasi has informed that in
order to meet the wheat requirement, 1.54 million ton of wheat has been
imported during the current year. Speaking in N.A during the question
hour, he also informed that an expense of U$. 779.3 million worth of
foreign exchange was spent the import, while during the FY 2007-8, 1.35
thousand tons of wheat was imported, mostly from USA, Australia, Canada,
Russia, Argentina and Brazil and blamed the wrong policies of former
government for wheat crisis.
During his speech in N.A he also informed that there was a complete ban
on wheat export from Pakistan, and PM has graciously increased the
support price of wheat, in order to encourage farmers to grow more wheat
The federal finance minister has cautioned about another wave of
inflation to a tune of 8.9%, while advisor to interior minister informed
that during 2006-2008 approximately six million passports have been
issued.
The federal privatization minister Naveed Qamar informed that during
past four years, 29 official units were sold, which yielded Rs. 34455.95
million. During a call-to-attention notice, the minority MNA of PML-Q,
Akram Masih Gul reminded the House, that minorities had supported the
resolution condemning the blasphemous publications against The Holy
