Lawyers to oppose any amendment on judges’ seniority issue: Wajih
By Khalid Amin

ISLAMABAD—Former presidential candidate Justice (Retd): Wajih ud Din Ahmad has warned that legal fraternity will strongly oppose any attempt to bring constitutional amendment with reference to judges seniority on the pattern of 6th constitutional amendment.
“Some are talking about constitutional package and amendment in the constitution in terms of judges seniority. We want to make it clear the lawyers will strongly oppose if judges seniority issue is touched upon by introducing some constitutional amendment on the fashion of 6th constitutional amendment”, he said this while addressing “Youm-e-Shuhuda” ceremony held here Thursday to express solidarity on martyrdom of lawyers on April, 8 in Karachi. “Even then if this amendment is brought, the lawyers would be there in the open field to launch larger movement than the ongoing one to achieve their objectives, he cautioned. Karachi, Lahore and Multan events are a big conspiracy against the democracy and lawyers movement, he added. These should be thwarted, he stressed.
“I had repeatedly seen the incident of maltreatment with Dr Sher Afgan Niazi and I came to know that he was a big actor too besides a politician, he said adding this acting would not work now. One year long lawyers struggle will not go waste, he maintained. US presidential elections are going to be held in November and Washington wants president Musharraf to be protected against any impeachment move till November so that Republicans could win the polls, he held. “But we want to make it clear that lawyers still stand by their commitment firmly and all the conspiracies will meet failure to disrupt their campaign”, he underlined.
