Pakistan team
camp for Asian Snooker from 23rd

KARACHI—A week-long training and preparations camp of Pakistan team for
next month’s 24th Asian Snooker Championship will be held at Karachi
Club’s Amir Billiards Hall from April 23, President, Pakistan Billiards
and Snooker Association (PBSA) Asghar Valika said on Wednesday.
He said three-member national team comprising of recently crowned
National Champion Muhammad Sajjad Butt, former World number two Saleh
Muhammad and Former Pakistan number one Khurram Agha will attended the
training camp.
PBSA Chief said Bilal Mughal, who had coached Sajjad to title winning
performance on his debut in the nationals is being specially invited
from Sargodha to supervise Pakistan team’s camp.
He said Bilal Mughal is also accompany the team to United Arab Emirates
(UAE) for the Asian Championship which will be played at Police
Officer’s Club in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) from May 3 to 10.
Asghar Valika said this is the best-ever team sent to the Asian
competition and expressed the hope that if Saleh, Sajjad and Khurram
played to their potential they all are capable of reaching the top in
Dubai.
He informed that 51 cuemen representing 22-nations from across the
continent will be taking part in the championship. Participants included
Afghanistan, Bahrain, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong,India, Iran,
Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Kuwait, Malaysia, Myanmar,
Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Syria, Vietnam, Thailand and host UAE
will be taking part in the championship.
Asghar Valika, who is also the Executive Vice President of Asian
Confederation Billiards Sports, said host UAE is being allowed to field
as many seven cueists while China, India, Pakistan and Thailand are
allowed to field three players each. |
