By Mona Khan
ISLAMABAD—The federal government has decided to abolish 347 vacant posts
in the Printing Corporation of Pakistan (PCP) and the formal approval is
likely to be given in a meeting of the Board of Directors to be held on
April 24.
According to sources, overall 415 posts were vacated due to retirement,
deaths and dismissal of employees and the administration of the Printing
Corporation of Pakistan while terming 68 posts necessary for the
functioning of the corporation decided to maintain them.
The corporation has sent the recommendations regarding the abolishment
of the vacant posts to the cabinet division and the formal approval
likely to be given in the 67th meeting of the Board of Directors on
April 24th.
The administration of PCP has the stance that the 347 posts are burden
on the corporation due to closure of the process of letter pressing and
changes in printing technology and their abolishment is necessary.
Sources further said that, these posts included one post of the
Executive Director (Production) of Grade-20, two posts of 17th scale,
three posts of 14th scale, 13 posts of 12th scale, 10 posts of 11th
scale as well as hundreds posts from Scale 1 to 10.
The sources said that the corporation is facing difficulties to
functioning due to vacant posts while hundreds of employees would be
deprived of getting the jobs.
The sources of PCP Employees Union (CBA) took the position that the news
of the abolishment of the posts has created sense of anxiety among the
employees waiting for their promotion since long.
The CBA in a letter to Managing Director of PCP Tanveer Abbas Jaffery
demanded to take the union of the employees into confidence before
taking any decision. |
