KSE Index steps over 15,500 points

KARACHI—Karachi Stock Exchange 100 Index crossed the 15,500
psychological barrier on Tuesday, gaining 100.61 points to close at
15538.45.
Mohammad Hasnain, a dealer associated with a major brokerage house said
positive vibes helped the market set a precedence not witnessed before.
“Prevalent political uncertainty could not any more prevail upon the
bourse potential and aspirations of the investors,” he commented. The
market which started day activity with a certain slumber finally managed
to gain momentum with bench-mark 100 Index surging as high as 15559.49
by midday, however, technical correction, led to a drop by 21.04 points
as the activity came to close for the day.
The turnover volume did witness a decline of a little over four million
shares with 221.916 million shares compared to previous 225.625 million
shares yet the prices of 179 scrips went up, 129 lost and 41 remained
unchanged. Market capitalization improved by Rs.29 billion with Rs.4.752
trillion compared to previous Rs.4.723 trillion.
