Public friendly legislation for IT sector: Kaira

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Mr. Qamar Zaman Kaira attended a briefing given by the Secretary Information Technology and Telecommunications, Mr.Hifz-ur-Rehman and other senior officers here today on the major functions, wings, departments, budget, policies , major initiatives and issues confronting the Ministry.
Mr. Kaira emphasized the need for creating an enabling environment through formulation and implementation of polices and legal framework – particularly highlighting the need for public friendly legislation for the sector. The Minister inquired about the status of profit repatriation by investors in the sector.
He also urged to promote bright and talented youth of the country – living in far – off areas through scholarship programmes to enhance their academic profile. He said that there should be cut in expenditure (non-development) as directed by the Prime Minister and also indicated targets for IT Ministry for it’s share in 100-days programme.—Online
