Police takes action against 700 vehicles over violations

ISLAMABAD—The Rawalpindi Traffic police in the last four days have taken action against 700 vehicles and imposed a fine of Rs 89,500 during its ongoing campaign against the violations of the traffic rules.
Senior Traffic Police Officer SSP Malik Matloob Ahmed Awan in a press release, issued from Rawalpindi Traffic police said that action has been taken against 439 vehicles on the violation of traffic signals. He further informed that 261 vehicles were issued challans over violation of Stop Line and Lane Line. Senior Traffic Police Officer SSP Malik Matloob said that the main objectives to start the campaign is to create awareness among the citizens regarding traffic rulers. He said that the officials of the traffic police during the campaign are informing the citizens about the importance of following the traffic rules.
Meanwhile, on the directives of SP Traffic Rawalpindi Malik Matloob Awan, action was taken against public transport vehicles stopping on illegal bus stops and not completing their routes.
DSP Cantt Traffic Chaudhary Abdul Ghani has asked the citizens to register their complaints on 915 and action would be taken against drivers or conductors involved in misbehaving with the passengers and not completing their routes.—Agencies
