DG FJA lauds CJP initiatives to improve efficiency of courts

ISLAMABAD—Director Federal Judicial Academy ( FJA) Moazzam Hayat Monday
lauded the initiatives taken by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Abdul
Hameed Dogar to improve the overall efficiency of both the superior and
subordinate courts, in order to provide the speedy and inexpensive
justice to the justice-seekers.
While briefing the six-member Canadian delegation, headed by Robert
Miller, President and CEO, parliamentary Center,who called on him here
at the Federal Judicial Academy ( FJA) on Monday.
The delegation comprised George Anderson, President and CEO, Forum of
Federations, Madam Justice Adele Kent, National Judicial Institute,
Grant Kippen, Government of Canada, Nick Coghlan, Deputy Head of
Mission,Canadian High Commission and John Moore, Counsellor and Head of
Aid, Canadian High Commission, informed Hashim Abro spokesman of FJA.
Speaking about the initiatives, he said the the judges salaries are
doubled in all the four provinces, special trainings and refresher
courses are designed for them both in FJA and abroad , research and
reading culture is being promoted among the young judicial officers and
courts are being equipped with the proper infrastructure and focus is
given to reduce the pendency and ways and means are being developed and
designed to administer speedy justice to the people.
DG FJA said that the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Abdul Hameed
Dogar believed that the people did not come to the courts willingly but
were compelled to go into the litigations in the courts of law, hence,
they should not be delayed in giving justice.
About the related issue in the efficiency of the judicial system he said
that it was important to have specialized judges. Therefore, the Chief
Justice of Pakistan was very particular about in and abroad training of
the judicial officers and recently, district judiciary judges comprising
from all four provinces and Northern Areas had visited the United States
regarding their training in Intellectual Property Law and Global laws.
“We live in a world where human knowledge is growing at a speed which is
unthinkable within two decades ago. This is the age of specialization.
The need for this is now accepted internationally. Our Chief Justices
has recognized this need already and moves are being made in this
direction of promoting specialized judges”” he maintained.
Moazzam Hayat said that a judiciary manned by judges with vision, wisdom
and compassion could do more for justice and the welfare of the
underprivileged, than all the laws and policies we could think of. |
