Kakar constitutes committee for allotment
of Govt accomodation on merit

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Housing & Works, Rehmatullah Kakar
attended a briefing at the Ministry of Housing & Works on the role and
functions of the Estate Office, Islamabad here today.
The briefing was given to Federal Minister for Housing & Works,
Rehmatullah Kakar by Estate Officer, Mr. Sher Afzal Khan Marwat on the
role, functions, targets, goals, achievements, annual allocation of
budget, organizational set-up, allotment policy, illegal occupation of
government accommodation by police and other people, unauthorized and
illegal sale of government owned property in Karachi and problems being
faced by the Estate, Office and recommendation presented to the
Minister.
Estate Officer Islamabad briefed the Minister about the allotment
procedure of government accommodation to the Federal government
employees, inquiry into the illegal and unauthorized sale of 3051
government owned residential units in Karachi.
The Estate Officer proposed suggestions and recommendations for the
improvement ad raising the image of the Estate Office, Islamabad.
Speaking on this occasion, Federal Minister for Housing & Works,
Rehmatullah Kakar after attending the briefing said that a Committee
would be constituted very soon for allotment of government accommodation
to all the categories of Federal Government Employees.
The Federal Minister directed Estate Officer to submit a detailed report
on the allotments made during the interim period. Rehmatullah Kakar
expressed his deep concern over the illegal and unauthorized sale of
government owned 3051 residential units worth Four & half trillion
rupees by the occupants of quarters in Karachi and ordered authorities
concerned suspension of Ghulam Abbas Baloch, the than Estate Officer,
Islamabad and Joint Estate Officer, Karachi Mr. Sarwar Jora who were
both involved into the illegal sale of these quarters on the basis of
certificates issued to the occupants without any lawful authority and
ordered a complete probe in this regard. |
