Mega projects worth Rs. 680m inaugurated

KARACHI—Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal Sunday laid the foundation stone of 9 mega projects in Orangi and Site Towns costing Rs. 680 million. Some 70 percent work has been completed on these projects which will be completed before June 2008. These projects include construction of a stadium in UC-8 SITE Town, Ghausia Qalandar Hotel to Major Anwar Shamim road SITE Town, sport complex in Sector 11-1/2 Orangi Town, new block for postgraduate classes in Government Degree Girls College Orangi, construction of Maulana Shaukat Ali road, upgradation of Secondary school as Model school in Sector 10 Orangi Town, Moinabad Road from Frontier Morr to Malik Chowk orangi Town, conversion of high school into model school in Frontier Colony and construction of Government Degree Girls College in Sector 11. Talking to media after laying the foundation stone Nazim Karachi pointed out that Orangi and Site Towns are among city’s backward areas and, therefore, in order to develop them, city government works on their water and sewerage schemes.—Agencies
