By Hina Kiyani

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Law and Justice Farooq H. Naek reiterating firm commitment of the government to resolve the issue of judges in line with the Murree Declaration said there was no difference between Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) in this regard.
Talking to a newsmen, the Minister said reinstatement of deposed judges is protected in the accord reached between the two parties on March 9 this year.
Similarly, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has also gave assurance on the day of oath-taking at floor of the National Assembly that “we will abide by the terms of Murree Declaration,” and issued orders for the release of judges, he added.
Then, he said, Federal Cabinet in its first meeting decided with consensus that a cabinet committee would be formed headed by the Law Minister, which would submit its recommendations in the Parliament on judges issue.
Accordingly, a draft prepared by the cabinet committee and reviewed by the Parliamentary Committee would be put up in the Parliament, he said.
Farooq Naek said the issue would be resolved with consensus and in accordance with the law and constitution and “it will certainly be as per aspirations of the people.”
Meanwhile, talking to BBC, the Law Minister said the only thing which remains to be decided is whether there should be a Cabinet Committee or Parliamentary Committee to prepare recommendations on the judges issue.
Coalition partners are meeting next week to decide about it, he added.
