Sindh to clarify its stand on water issue

KARACHI—The government of Sindh has announced to notify the Federal government about its due share of water, end greater Thal canal project and implementation of the 91-agreement. Chief Minister Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah has expressed these views while talking to journalists here on Sunday.
Chief Minister told Journalists that Sindh Province is facing severe water scarcity and government of Sindh is assiduous to make substantial measures to overcome the growing needs of water. He said that Thal Canal project is about to complete and PPP had opposed its construction in past and in future too.
In response to a question he said that Sindh government is against the construction of mega dams, however, small dams would be constructed in order to control the water shortage. In this connection, Irrigation Secretary Sindh and IRSA has already had meeting to discusses these issues, he said. In response to another question, Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that appointment of the IG Sindh, Shoaib Siddle was purely made on merit basis.
