Spring Extravaganza marked by NUML
students

ISLAMABAD—The students of National University of Modern Languages (NUML)
marked the event of Jashan-e-Baharan with colourful activities here on
Friday.
The students of all departments, enthusiastically participated in kite
flying activity while differentstalls carrying traditional dresses, hand
bags, jewellery, cosmetics, books and handicrafts arranged in the
central lawn of the University added colour to the festival. A huge rush
of girls wearing yellow dresses, beingthe event's main colour depicting
blossoming spring, wasseen at the stall of `Mehndi' and `Palmistry'
arranged by Department of Pakistan Studies. Some experts, applying`henna'
in Arabic and Sweden designs, were centre ofattention for most of the
girls.
However the boys were gathered in large number atthe stall `Music
Hungama' for song dedication organized by Department of Governance.
Holding celebrations in the month of spring is theannual feature of the
University's extra curricular activities. Jash-e-Baharan being a
colourful festival provides opportunity to enjoy besides routine study
life,said a group of girls from the music stall `Numlian Idol'arranged
to find `NUML ki Shan'(best voice of theuniversity).
"I was amazed to see that girls have moreenthusiastically participated
in kite flying activity along with boys', remarked a visitor. The food
outlets of renowned restaurants of theCapital carrying traditional food
items, being an important segment of festival, attracted young alot.
Persian Department displayed a stall titled `Pak-Iran friendship'
containing books in Persian language andhandicrafts of traditional
touch.
`International Fun Gala' was especially organized todedicate sentiments
to friends and loved ones by International Relations Department.
Besides university students, a large number ofvisitors also came to
enjoy the Jashan-e-Baharan festivities.
The festival was arranged by Miss Shahina, lecturer of English
Department and the preparations for the festival were started by
university students at the start of the month. The festival of `Jashan-e-Baharan'
is being traditionally celebrated, since ages, to welcome the spring and
such activities provides sigh of relief in this humdrum routine life. |
