US delegation calls on Bilour

ISLAMABAD—A 3-member U.S delegation of observers led by Glenn Cowan called on Federal Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour in his office here today.
Talking to the 3-member observers’ delegation, Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour said that the democratic forces should be supported and strengthened for the elimination of extremism in the country. The Federal Minister told the U.S delegation that restoration of peace and order was the priority of the present elected government of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and all matters should be resolved through peaceful means and dialogue Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour reiterated the Government’s commitment that the coalition Government believes in complete democratic norms and would take all the democratic forces in the country into confidence for the supremacy of law, parliament and strengthening of democratic institutions in the country.
The delegation expressed their satisfaction and appreciated the transparent and peaceful holding of general elections on February 18, 2008 in Pakistan. The delegation told the Federal Minister that the U.S masses like to support democracy and democratic forces in Pakistan.
The delegation informed that the U.S and its people attach priority to its relations with Pakistan.
