Cylinder blast leaves 7 dead

LAHORE—At least seven people were killed and 11 injured and 20 wounded in blast at a godown located in scrap market in Misri Shah area of Lahore. Police said that gas cylinder caused the blast. They said that the injured included students of the nearby institutions. Witnesses said that the laborers were cutting a gas cylinder was when it exploded with a huge bang.
Four of the deceased have identified as owner of the scrap market Raja Amir, Rashid, Kashif and Suthri alias Bhutto while other three have not been identified as yet. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital. Maou Hospital said that it received 11 injured out of which 4 are said to be in critical condition. Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has expressed deep sense of grief over the unfortunate incident of gas cylinder blast in Lahore in which some innocent people including children lost their lives and others received injuries.
The Prime Minister directed the provincial government to ascertain the cause of the blast and supervise the rescue efforts. He also asked the hospital authorities to provide all possible medical facility to the injured for their early recovery.
