President
shocked over violence
ISLAMABAD—President Pervez Musharraf has expressed shock over the
incidents of violence in Karachi in which precious lives were lost,
innocent people injured and property damaged.
The President directed the concerned authorities to take all necessary
measures to ensure peace and calm, and bring the perpetrators and
disruptive elements to justice. He also appealed to the people to
cooperate with the law enforcement personnel in ensuring peace and
tranquillity in the provincial metropolis.
President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani
strongly condemning the manhandling of former Federal Minister Sher
Afgan Niazi and former Chief Minister Sindh Arbab Ghulam Rahim have
vowed that the democracy process in the country would not be allowed to
be derailed at any cost. These views were expressed by the two leaders
in a meeting held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday. Hosts of issues were
discussed during the course of the meeting related to overall political
situation, visit of President to China, latest spate of violent
incidents with the former federal minister Sher Afgan Niazi and former
Chief Minister Ghulam Arbab Rahim and other issues related to national
