Bureau Report

LAHORE—PML-Q central leader Ch Pervaiz Elahi has said that the party will boycott Punjab Assembly proceedings from Thursday and will not take part in the elections for the PA Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Leader of the House.
He said they will abstain in protest against the incidents of manhandling of Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Dr Sher Afgan Niazi. Talking to newsmen after witnessing proceedings of the inaugural session of the Punjab Assembly here Wednesday, he said “Both leaders were subjected to torture under a well thought out conspiracy, and alleged that PPP and PML-N were involved in it”.
The former Punjab chief minister was accompanied by Ch Zaheeruddin, Arshad Lodhi, Monis Elahi and other PML-Q leaders. “The new coalition government wants to pursue politics of victimisation, which is not going to promote democracy,” he asserted.
“We believe in the politics of principles, and people are aware of the performance of our government.
