PA calls for UN probe into BB’s murder
Bureau Report

LAHORE—Punjab Assembly on Wednesday passed a unanimous resolution to demand an investigation into the murder of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto shaheed by United Nations, and paid rich tributes to the martyred PPP leafer for her services to democracy. Members from PML-Q present in the house did not oppose the resolution.
PPP leader Raja Riaz presented the resolution after Speaker Afzal Sahi finally allowed him to do so by suspending rules 28 and 115 of procedures of Punjab Assembly under rule 234, after insistence by the members. Earlier, he continued to oppose it on the ground that the constitution does not allow him to do so. Raja Riaz, Saeed Akber Niwani, Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood, Nazim Shah and a number of other senior parliamentarians insisted that the Speaker has powers to suspend the rules and admit the resolution in this regard.
Raja Riaz said that PPP, PML-N and other coalition partners will neither sign the register after taking the oath for one hour, nor allow anyone to sign it, if the Speaker did not permit to present the resolution.
