Country defence unassailable, says Defence Minister

ISLAMABAD—Terming Pak Army as an asset, Federal Minister for Defence Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar on Tuesday underlined that undoubtedly country's defence is unassailable.
Only strong defence can guarantee the security of the country, Federal Minister for Defence Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar expressed these views during his meeting with Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Tariq Majid on Tuesday.
They discussed host of matters pertaining to the Armed Forces of the country. Chairman CJCSC congratulated the Minister upon assuming the charge of the Ministry of Defence.
General Majid briefed the Minister about the internal and external challenges being confronted by the Armed Forces of the country. Defence Minister told the Chairman CJCSC that it would be the priority of the present Government to strengthen the conventional and strategic capabilities of the Armed Forces of the country so as to make the defence of the motherland impregnable.
Later while talking to Online, Federal Minister for Defence Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar said that we would fulfil our promise regarding restoration of Judges within 30 days adding all the Political Parties are united. We don't want to create chaos on the thorny issue, he said.
He told Online that his meeting with Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Tariq Majid lasted for quite a while in which issues relating to Armed Forces of the country were discussed in an amicable manner. Replying to a question, Federal Minister for Defence Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar said that in the present circumstances Pakistan and India are not a threat to each other.
He said that CBMs between Pakistan and India are moving in the right direction adding that India is hopeful to maintain the same flow with the new Government on all outstanding issues.
Responding to another question, he expressed the resolve that the defence sector of the country would be further strengthened so as to ensure its security and territorial integrity.
The Minister further deeply appreciated the Chinese contribution towards strengthening the defence sector of the country.—Online
