Truckers strike suspends edible oil supply

KARACHI—The supply of palm oil to the whole country from Karachi lay suspended owing to the oil tankers strike here. Talking to a private news channel, President Edible Oil tankers Contractors Association Aurangzeb Jadoon said Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association entered the agreement with NLC for 10 per cent transportation of palm oil, which transporters do not approve of.
Expressing his reservations, PVMA can hand the most of its palm oil transportation work to NLC.
Meantime, Senior Vice Chairman Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association Wazeer Ali said the agreement with NLC aimed at ending the monopoly of the old contractors.
He said if the palm oil supply is not restored, then the whole country may face the shortage of ghee and cooking oil.
