Bilour vows
to serve nation in letter & spirit

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Local Government and Rural Development,
Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour attended a briefing in the Ministry of Local
Government and Rural Development here today.
The briefing was given by Federal Secretary Local Government & Rural
Development, Mr. Muhammad Salim Khan on the role, vision, goals and
targets of the Ministry of Local Government. Senior officials of the
Ministry also attended the briefing.
Joint Secretary Ministry Mr. Jamil Ahmed and Joint Secretary, Mr. Shahid
Lateef of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development briefed
the Minister about the vision of the Ministry including development of
rural Pakistan, strengthening of local government institutions,
mainstreaming of rural areas and the role of marginalized communities in
the socio-economic development. They also briefed the Minister about the
goals and targets of the Ministry including promotion of local
government institutions; improvement of service delivery in rural areas,
training of elected representatives of the local government,
coordination with the district and Provincial governments and liaison
with international community. Federal Minister for Local Government and
Rural Develo9pment Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour after attending the briefing
said that all available resources should be utilized for the
socio-economic development of less developed and far flung areas of the
country. He said that we should devote ourselves to serve the nation in
letter and spirit and work for the welfare of the people and prosperity
of the nation. The Minister assured his full support to the senior
officials of the Ministry in the discharge of their official duties.
Earlier, senior officials of the Ministry were introduced to the
Minister after he assumed the charge of his Ministry. |
