Sindh Speaker, Dy Speaker slots un-opposed

KARACHI—The nomination papers of Pakistan Peoples Party leaders Nisar
Ahmad Khooro and Shehla Raza was approved for the posts of Sindh
Assembly Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively on Sunday. The Sindh
Assembly is all set to elect Speaker and Deputy Speaker unopposed on
Monday (today). During the session, Nisar Ahmed Khooro would take oath
as 15th Speaker of the Sindh Assembly.
Earlier, PPP nominated Shehla Raza a Party candidate for slot of Deputy
Speaker Sindh Assembly after consultation. After nomination of Deputy
Speaker, the nominated Chief Minister of PPP Sindh Syed Qiam Ali Shah
and Party Parliamentary in Sindh Assembly Pir Mazharul Haq submitted
nomination papers of Nisar Ahmed Khooro for the Slot of Speaker Sindh
Assembly and Shehla Raza for position of Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly.
Large numbers of Party activists were present on the occasion and
chanted banging slogan “Jeay Bhutto” (long live Bhutto) on the occasion.
Muhammad Iyaz Soomro, Muzafar Shajra, Murad Ali Shah, Munawar Ali Abbasi,
Ahmed Ali Shah, Shahmimara and Mukaish Kumar were prospers and seconders
in nomination papers of Nisar Ahmed Khoro for position of Speaker Sindh
Assembly while Shahzia Murree, Fiaz Bhutto, Salem Khurshid Kahokar and
Nasrullah Baloch were prospers and seconders in nomination papers of
Shehla Raza for position of Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly.
No Party submitted nomination papers against PPP for slot of Speaker and
Deputy Speaker National Assembly, its means that they would be elected
unopposed. The session of Sindh Assembly would be started today (Monday)
at 9:30 am in which Speaker Syed Muzafar Hussain Shah would administer
oath to Nisar Ahmad Khooro as new Speaker Sindh Assembly. After taking
oath, Speaker Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmad Khooro would administer oath to
Shehla Raza as Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly. Nisar Ahmad Khooro would
be 15th Speaker of Sindh Assembly.
After establishment of Sindh Assembly, Dewan Bhoj was its first Speaker,
which performed his duties till 19 February 1983. Syed Miran Muhammad
Shah was second Speaker of Sindh Assembly from 26th February 1938 to 3
May 1948, Agha Badar-u-Din Durrani third speaker from 8 March 1949 to 25
March 1951, Ghulam Ali Talpur 4th Speaker from 14 September 1953 to 29
March 1955, Qurban Ali Shah 5th Speaker, Ghulam Rasool 6th Speaker from
May 02 1972 to 30 March 1977, Agha Sadar-u-Din Durrani 7th Speaker 2 May
1977 to 4 July 1977, Abdullah Hussain Haroon 8th Speaker from 6 April
1985 to 31 March 1986, Syed Muzafar Hussain Shah 9th Speaker from 6
April 1986 to 1st December 1988, Syed Abdullah Shah 10th Speaker from 2
January 1988 to 5 November 1990, Abdullah Razzaq 11th Speaker from 5
November 1990 to 19 October 1993, Ghous Buksh Mehar 12th Speaker from 19
October 1993 to 22 February 1997, Nawab Mirza (Advocate) 13th Speaker
from 22 October 1997 to 26 October 1998 while Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah
14th Speaker from 14th April 2002 to 7th April 2008.
Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and Shehla Raza of Pakistan People Party (PPP) were
declared elected unopposed as Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively of
Sindh Assembly. They were declared elected unopposed by Speaker Syed
Muzaffar Hussain Shah after scrutiny of their nomination papers by him.
After declaring them elected unopposed Speaker Muzaffar Hussain Shah
extended felicitations to both.
