Protestors demand reconstruction of Jamia Hafsa

ISLAMABAD—A protest for immediate release of imprisoned Lal Masjid
cleric Maulana Abdul Aziz and reconstruction of Jamia Hafsa was held at
Aabpara Chowk.
The Friday protest organized by Defence of Human Rights and Jamia Hafsa
was participated by vast number of masses, which also included under-14
children, and female students of Jamia Hafsa. They also demanded for
opening of Jamia Faridia, and while resorting to anti-Musharraf slogans
demanded his immediate resignations as well.
The protestor were wearing black armbands, and raised anti-American and
Jihadi slogans. Meanwhile the newly appointed khateeb of Lal Masjid
Allama Aamir Siddiqui has said that President Musharraf has been
embroiled in crisis was a punishment bestowed on him by God Almighty,
and termed the President as being a sheer security risk for the Country.
Allama Aamir siddiqui also refused any compromise over the release of
Maulana Abdul Aziz and rejected his release on (mere) bail. He also
demanded immediate cessation of demolition of seminaries and mosques and
announced an Ulema committee to oversee more buildings of mosques and
seminaries. He said that those who voted for political parties
supporting Musharraf had betrayed the sacrifices of Jamia Hafsa students
and elements killed during the previous operation.
He also vowed to keep the torch of Jihad alive until the Day of
Judgment. |
