Umar Hayat Lalika escapes assassination bid

PHALIYA—Central Leader of the PML-N and former MNA, Chaudhry Umar Hayat Lalika narrowly escaped assassination attempt on Thursday mid night. Umar Hayat Lalika was coming from Mudh Ranjha Sargodha and was traveling to Mandi Baha ud Din at about 12;30 am when all of a sudden four armed men appeared on the road and signaled his vehicle to stop. But the driver increased the speed rather to stop it and drove in zigzag to threaten and misguide the armed men. Consequently, they opened fired at the vehicle. His security guard also retailed at the movement. As a result, glasses of the vehicles smashed. However, both the Umar Hayat Lalika, his driver and his guard remained safe.
