SC issues notices to AG in PBC election case

ISLAMABAD—A three-member bench of the Supreme Court issued notices to Attorney General and Advocates General of all the four provinces in election matter of the Pakistan Bar Council under amended Legal and Practitioners Act-2004 and adjourned the hearing of the case to a date in office.
The case was heard by a bench comprising Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Justice Ejaz-ul-Hassan Khan and Justice Ch. Ijaz Yousaf. These petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court by Muhammad Riaz Hanif Rahi advocate.
Ch.Muhammad Ramzan advocate who is also member of the Pakistan Bar Council appeared before the court and apprised he would plead the case on the next hearing.
Muhammad Ashraf, an official of the Punjab Bar Council also appeared before the court and made request to grant time as the Punjab Bar Council wanted to engage the counsel and would file concise statement. The bench was informed that the Attorney General had left for London when the bench inquired about the non-presence of the Attorney General in the case.
The bench adjourned the matter after issuing notices to Chief Law Officers of the Federation and all the four provinces.
