D-12 development works in doldrums

ISLAMABAD—The row between the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the construction firm has put the development works in the Sector D-12 in doldrums.
According to sources, it is unlikely that the development work would be completed till June 30, the deadline of the project and the allottess would not get the ownership rights of the plots.
It may be recalled that Chairman CDA had directed to give the ownership rights to allottess before June 30 after completion of the development projects, so that the allottess could start the construction of their houses.
Sources said that the construction firm has removed its machineries from the site of the project and CDA has decided to seek new tenders after canceling the contract. The notice to the construction firm has been issued, added the sources.
CDA has the stance that the development work in the Sector was to be completed in November 2006 and the date was extended but the pace of the work is still not satisfactory. The Construction firm on the other hand has held responsible the capital’s authority for delaying in the completion of the construction work, adding that CDA still failed to get possession of Service Road East and West. The rate of steel has also been increased from Rs 15,000 per ton to Rs 75,000 per ton but CDA is not ready to give the market rate, added the construction firm.
