2 blast accused sent on remand

RAWALPINDI—Rafaqat and Husnain Gull arrested in connection with the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto have been sent to Adiala Jail on the judicial remand in the cases of two suicide blasts at Police Station Civil Line and RA Bazaar. The court has also issued non-bailable arrest warrant of local Taliban commander Baitullah Masud and three others persons. A police official has informed the court that the challan of these cases have been prepared but would be presented in the court after the approval of the Prosecution Department of the Punjab government. The accused Rafaqat and Husnain Gull appeared in the special court of Anti Terrorism Rawalpindi Division on Tuesday amidst strict security of Elite Force Commanders and Police under the supervision of DSP Chaudhary Mujahid Hussain. Naseer Khan Tanooli Advocate appeared on behalf of the defense while the prosecutor was Raja Yasin Advocate. DSP Chaudhary Mujahid Hussain has informed the court that the case of a suicide blast near RA Bazaar was registered on September 4, 2007 while in the lights of the revelations of accused arrested in connection with Benazir’s murder case, Rafaqat, Husnain Gull and Baitullah Mehsud were named in the case. He informed that Rafaqat and Hussain Gull were arrested and demanded arrest warrant of Baitullah Mehsud. The police have obtained the arrest warrants of Baitullah Mehsud, Qari Ismail, Faiz Ullah and Qari Nadir under new Police Order 2002.
