Wajih lashes
out at withdrawal of cases under NRO
Bureau Report
LAHORE—Justice (Retd) Wajih ud Din Ahmad has warned if the incumbent
government follows the footsteps of erstwhile government, the people
will hold them accountable. “Erstwhile government had written of loans
of 54 billion rupees. If the present government tries to tread the same
path , the people will not allow them to do so and hold them
accountable”, he said this while addressing Lahore High Court Bar here
Tuesday.
He demanded supreme judiciary after coming into original shape should
review National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) and give its decision on
it. Withdrawal of cases under NRO and so many other matters like this
are bad luck for the nation, he underlined.
The offenders should come into the courts, he stressed. People are
watching every thing now and they will hold them accountable, he added.
He went on to say prime minister had announced 40 percent cut in prime
minister house expenses which was a good tradition. Undue expenses are
incurred in presidency, governor house and other ministries too,
therefore, these should also be slashed , he demanded.
The increase in the prices of wheat has led to scale down smuggling, he
said adding government should allow subsidy and contain inflation.
Minimum salary has been fixed as Rs 6000 which was far less, he
maintained. It should be fixed equal to the price of one tolla gold, he
demanded.

reinstate the judiciary, severe protest would re-start.

(National Reconciliation Ordinance) by the future reinstated judiciary,
questioning the legitimacy of a system, which tended to turn a blind eye
to massive corruption, embezzlements and erroneous political blunders.
“This prerogative belongs to Parliament, while the Judiciary should be
left to its own legal devices”, he maintained.
He also expressed his dismay and strong disapproval at the recent
meeting and any possible reconciliation between Iftikhar Muhammad
Chaudhry and Asif Ali Zardari, since such nefarious acts as NRO would /
should have to critically reviewed

under PCO by a Judicial council, and while strongly condemning the
publishing of blasphemous cartoons, urged all Muslim countries and OIC
to ban the products of countries involved in the shamefully heinous act.

and not a legally elected President, he should not be bothered to be
impeached Replying to a question, he said that after his impeachment,
