Interior ministry to review cases against Maulana Aziz today

ISLAMABAD—On the directives of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, vital meeting of interior ministry would be held today (Wednesday) to review the cases registered against Former Khatib Lal Mosque Maulana Abdul Aziz as well as to compensate heirs of those student who lost their lives in the operation.
Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has taken notice of the protest of the students of Jamia Hafsa, a girls' seminary in Islamabad demolished during the tenure of the former government last year. Prime Minister Gilani has issued directives to the ministry of interior to review cases lodged against Former Khatib Lal Mosque Maulana Abdul Aziz, besides devising strategy to compensate heirs of those who lost their lives in the operation.
Additional Secretary Interior Ministry would preside over the session to be attended by Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Inspector General Islamabad, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) and other authorities of concerned departments. The meeting would table its report before the Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani by devising its strategy in the light of his directions. It may be recalled that a non Government Organization working for the search of missing people held talks with Co-Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari the other day and submitted written application with regard to Lal Masjid operation.—Agencies
